If you do not have to deal with acne then consider yourself very lucky. It’s another story for people like me who have mastered the art of fighting acne for as long as I can remember! You would think that when you grow up they would stop bugging you, but no, they are here to stay. Although there are plenty of treatment options (benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, erythromycin, etc.), some of us still seek the all-natural treatment for acne.
On one hand, they are very cheap, they are also lightweight but effective.
Here are the most popular natural treatments for pimples:
1.) Aloe Vera-
A lot of skin care products list aloe as one of their main ingredients but have you ever wondered why? This is because the enzymes in aloe have the power to moisturize the skin and help generate new, healthy cells. The antibacterial and antifungal properties of aloe vera gel will help dry up acne without drying out the skin.
It will also help with swelling, redness, and inflammation. You do not have to worry about excessive oil production as Aloe is loaded with astringent properties and it will not clog pores so this is something you need to try. Apply the gel to your face twice a day, focusing on your acne, to heal acne and prevent future acne.
If you want to take the Aloe Vera treatment up a notch, you can start taking it internally as well. Sometimes acne is caused by a weakened immune system or vitamin deficiency. Consuming high-quality Aloe juice regularly will not only support a healthy immune system but it will also get rid of toxin buildup in your body. Aloe drink comes in many forms- powder, concentrate, and ready-to-drink. If you don’t feel like drinking it, you can always turn to Aloe capsules. Much easier and more convenient.
2.) Tea Tree Oil-
It contains antibacterial and antifungal agents that can help fight acne. How do you implement it? Take a cotton ball and dip it in the oil, apply it on the pimples, and leave it overnight. I tried this earlier and it is a bit dry as I have very oily skin. You may want to use a moisturizer before applying tea tree oil to the affected area. If you don’t want to use pure tea tree oil or if you have sensitive skin and are concerned about the potential side effects, you can purchase skin care products with tea tree oil. Soaps, facial washes, and creams are available at supermarkets, health stores, and online.
3.) Apple Cider Vinegar-
It is produced from the liquid of crushed apples that have been fermented. Apple cider vinegar has antibacterial properties that can help fight acne. It is also loaded with various nutrients that can restore the healthy appearance of the skin. It contains potassium, calcium, iron, magnesium, sodium, sulfur, fluorine and phosphorus. When used as a toner, apple cider can unclog pores and get rid of excess oil associated with acne. Follow the steps given below:
-Mix one part apple cider vinegar with three parts water.
-Use a cotton ball to pat the solution onto the skin. If your face is oily, leave it overnight otherwise rinse your face after 15 minutes.
-Do this until your acne clears up.
4.) Zinc-
If your acne is caused by a hormonal imbalance, I recommend taking zinc orally. Zinc is one of the most effective all natural remedies for acne that I have tried. It facilitates the production and regulation of nearly 200 hormones in the body, including testosterone. As we all know, testosterone is one of the culprits responsible for breakouts.
Simply put, zinc can prevent a potential hormonal imbalance that can lead to acne. Another benefit of taking zinc orally is collagen formation which is essential for the maintenance of healthy skin and normalizing oil production in the skin.
